The role

We are looking for a curious and creative Head of People to lead our people strategy across all our Rethink Group brands. The Head of People will lead the existing People Team of 5 and grow the team as required to support our overall strategy.

This position has high accountability and reports directly to the CEO of the Group, as well as working with other stakeholders at all levels. If this is you, you’ll be able to balance operational delivery with strategic direction and will be comfortable acting as a player coach, managing the team members responsible for People Operations, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development whilst not being afraid to get stuck into the detail when required.

You’ll be excited by the prospect of being in a growth environment and the level of ambiguity which sometimes comes with that. You’ll have free reign to assess the People function and make strategic decisions about what to start, stop and/or continue in order to build and work towards becoming a world-class People Team.

Responsibilities

  • Generalist HR leadership duties covering People Operations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Reward.
  • Lead the current People Team of 5, recruiting additional team members, as required.
  • Devise and lead best strategic people projects.
  • Develop and maintain fair people policies reflecting our unique culture and ways of working.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of existing HR operations and policies.
  • Manage the Talent Acquisition team of 2, taking a hands-on role on Director level recruitment, where required.
  • Lead on all aspects of reward across the business, working closely with the Finance Team.
  • Devise L&D strategy for all areas of the business, together with the Senior Leadership Team and recruit the team needed to deliver on this strategy.
  • Prepare reports for the CEO and wider Board of Directors, attending regular Board meetings on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Work with our Marketing Team to build upon and promote our awesome Employee Value Proposition and employer brand.
  • Lead and implement key People initiatives, starting with a clear progression framework at company and individual level.
  • Lead on all aspects of People Management across the business, including day-to-day line manger coaching directly and via your team.
  • Build upon current performance appraisal system to develop a robust and transparent system of assessing and developing all employees.
  • Lead, measure and track the company's Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
  • Provide legal advice to resolve people issues professionally and ethically, consulting external advisors as required.
  • Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, taking part in key business decisions and contributing your ideas.

Requirements:

  • A strong generalist background with experience of the full employee lifecycle and great understanding across the People function.
  • Knows what great recruitment looks like.
  • Proven experience as Head of HR or similar senior HR role in 200+ person business.
  • Confident knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Great communicator with strong EQ, both in 1:1 and in large groups.
  • Direct in approach and comfortable challenging at all levels.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Previous experience of managing remote team members.
  • Ability to use data and analytics to measure success and output.
  • Aptitude in communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-organised with excellent leadership qualities.
  • Previous experience of being part of the senior management team, providing input into company decision making and influencing at a senior level.
  • Experience in matrixed, high growth company desirable.
  • Willingness to travel within UK, once a month.
